About the
EU-SEA CCCA CORSIA
The EU-South East Asia Cooperation on Mitigating Climate Change impact from Civil Aviation (EU-SEA CCCA) CORSIA project (2019-2023) has the overall objective of strengthening National and Regional environmental capacity to mitigate Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions from civil aviation in South East Asia.
The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in conjunction with the ASEAN Member States.
The project supports the ASEAN Member States in scaling up their State Action Plan for the reduction of CO2 emissions and in the implementation of the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA).
Project Activities
The project is supporting three main areas of action:
- State Action Plan (SAP) for the reduction of CO2 emissions
- CORSIA Implementation
- Environmental Management DB
The activities are defined to maximise the added value for the ASEAN Member States (AMS), covering their actual needs in timely manner. For that reason, the activities have been launched in different setup, either as Regional (for all AMS), Multilateral (for a reduced number of AMS - those with a common profile) or Bilateral Initiatives (targeted to individual AMS with specific needs).
On-Line Support During the
COVID-19 Pandemic
Considering the impact of COVID-19 outspread, the EU-SEA CCCA CORSIA project team is re-organising and delivering most of the work plan approved for 2020 through online and remote support.
This flexibility allows the relevant stakeholders in ASEAN (State Authorities, Aeroplane Operators, National Accreditation Bodies and Verification Bodies) continuing increasing their readiness to meet international commitments despite of the difficulties posed by the pandemic.
In addition, the extensive use of remote means (webinars, teleconferences, on-line trainings) is helping to raise awareness of the feasibility of effective virtual meetings.
