Capacity Building for VB from Malaysia – Refreshment session on CORSIA

This capacity-building exercise provided training to the National Accreditation Body and a candidate client VB on basic requirements of CORSIA verification. The sessions were organized in two half-days sessions covered process requirements for conducting a verification in accordance with ISO14065:2013, a review of fuel use monitoring methods and simulation exercises.

Kick-off Attachment Programme between NAB Malaysia/DSM – Department of Standards Malaysia & Indonesia/KAN – Komite Akeditasi Nasional

This attachment programme was aimed to share the experience of an ASEAN NAB already familiar working under the CORSIA scheme and with a well-established accreditation process with another ASEAN NAB still in development phase of the CORSIA scheme and the accreditation process, with the objective to bridge the knowledge and procedural gaps through a “learning by seeing and doing” approach. The support from KAN has been significant to the success of this activity.

Kick-off ICAO CORSIA Verification and Validation Body (VVB) Accreditation Sharing Experience (1st session) – attachment programme between National Accreditation Body of Philippines and Thailand

This activity was organized as an attachment programme between experienced NAB Thailand led by Mr. Raththa Sricharoenand, Lead Assessor of the Office of the National Standardization Council to share the work carried out under CORSIA scheme to Philippines Accreditation Bureau. This activity helped bridging the knowledge and procedural gaps through a “learning by seeing and by doing” approach. His presentations covered organization structure, application process, document review, competences, appeals, complaints, and service improvements. The support from Thailand Industrial Standardization Institution (TISI) has been significant to the success of this activity.

Between 25th and 27th of May 2020 online session for GHG Assessors from the NABs of Cambodia and Myanmar were delivered with the main objective to provide further information to the GHG assessors from NAB of Cambodia and Myanmar on the main requirements of the ISO 14065:2013 to be used as the scheme to accredit the candidate VBs under CORSIA in compliance with ICAO, Annex 16, Volume 4.

Another remote activity taking place in May 2020 is the online workshop on Emissions reporting for Cambodian aeroplane operators scheduled to take place on the 29th of May 2020 aiming to review the key elements of Emissions report (ER) under CORSIA.

Between 20th and 23rd of April 2020 the EU-SEA CCCA Project team organised four remote training sessions to the GHG NABs assessors of Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam. The objective of this remote activity was to provide training and guidance to GHG assessors from NABs of the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam on the main requirements of the ISO 14065:2013 to be used as the scheme to accredit the candidate VBs under CORSIA in compliance with ICAO, Annex 16, Volume 4.

In February and March 2020, four remote training sessions dedicated to support the consolidation of information and concepts of the Emissions report (ER) under CORSIA, were delivered to the AOs from the ASEAN region. This activity has been designed considering the immediate needs of AOs to better understand how to compile the ER excel sheet annually to reflect the value of their CO2 emissions from international flights in compliance with CORSIA requirements as per ICAO's format. The participation of the State Authorities provided the opportunity to align the understanding of both AOs and their State Authority in the generation of the ER.
